I installed the Fingerprint sensor according to the service manual, which I found on Dell's website. Everything was installed correctly and I was then going to install the Dell Device Drivers Pack and then the Dell Security Control Suite, but I noticed after I installed the Dell Device Drivers Package in the device manager it stated "Dell ControlVault w/o Fingerprint Sensor". I then called Dell and spoke to support and went back and forth with them on this and they referred me to Wave support. I spoke to Wave and they determined it was hardware related so they sent me back to Dell. I have been fighting with Dell Support on this forever and have no answers why the device manager states "Dell ControlVault w/o Fingerprint Sensor" and how I am unable to enroll Fingerprints. The device manager has no exclamation points on it and the Broadcom USH device is working properly. I know other posts I have read stated that there device manager states that Dell ConrtolVault w/swipe sensor. I have read up on this issue and have had no luck finding an answer. Keep in mind the Fingerprint Reader did not come with it originally. Any ideas? Please any information would help as this is so confusing to me. Thank you.

Basically:
o install device h/w
o check BIOS for any relevant settings
o check Device Manager for unknown device
o install device s/w driver
o check Device Manager for healthy device
o install device application s/w, if any
Perhaps the device is dead if installed but not found.
